Bass Gear Icons: Hartley Peavey

Bass gear has evolved tremendously since the middle of the twentieth century – thanks to a relatively small group of innovators, experimenters, designers, engineers and builders that have dedicated their lives to the advancement of the art and science of the gear we play. Stone Custom Drums

Drum-n-Bass by Mike Czeczele Stone Custom Drums (SCD) is a high-end drum manufacturing company located in Fort Wayne, Indiana, that utilizes radio frequencies (RF) in making drum shells. Detroit Bass Day 2016

Photos and Story by Steve Burkhalter This year’s Detroit Bass day was a reunion, of sorts. Reunions are usually great things; a chance to recall the past, and celebrate the future. In fact, the Tantra solidly surpassed my hyped-up expectations. Take the glorious Sonic Farm 2di4 DI, add a world-class compressor, a very usable (and blendable) distortion...

2016 Summer NAMM Show Report

Ah, Summer NAMM; what a great trip! Part bass hang, part gear-filled business trip, part summer vacation, the Nashville Show is a very different experience than the “big show” out in Anaheim. Once again, the Bass Gear Magazine team started off the experience with the (5th) Annual D’Addario Pre-NAMM Party, held at the Soundcheck Annex building. It’s a great way to get in the mood, with great food from Jack’s BBQ, great music from local musicians, and lots of cool D’Addario gear. Douglas Corner Café was, again, “the place for bass during Summer NAMM.” Roy Vogt put together the...
